You know, I was going to try to steer clear of politics here on my blog, but I heard something that I felt just needed to be addressed.
Is there a group of people who just sit around all day coming up with the next "agenda?" the next "cause?" the next "let's see who we can get all riled up?" I admit that occasionally the cause makes sense, but, for the most part, WHO CARES? But this one absolutely falls into the "I can't believe this crap" category.
Some group of people in Australia, with nothing better to do, decided that Santa should no longer be allowed to say, "Ho, ho, ho." After a bazillion years of Santa saying these words, some meddling bunch of fools has decided that "Ho, ho, ho" should be changed to " Ha, ha, ha, " for political reasons. This meddlesome group thinks that "Ho, ho, ho" might frighten children, and is derogatory to women.
Actually it isn't just a meddlesome group - it's a recruiting firm that hires Santas. "Recruitment firm, Westaff - which supplies hundreds of Santas across the country - has told its trainees that the 'ho ho ho' phrase could frighten children and could even be derogatory to women." How can "ho, ho, ho" be frightening? Children have associated this phrase with Santa forever!?! "Ho, ho, ho" means Santa. And, please! Is anyone really offended, man or woman, by Santa saying "Ho, ho, ho????" How can that be misconstrued as being derogatory in any way, shape, or form?? Give me a giant break!!
Apparently, the Santas are not going to take this. Santas being trained by Westaff, the above mentioned recruitment firm, quit when told that they had to say "ha ha ha" instead of "ho ho ho." Others quit when they were told they couldn't say, "ho ho ho," because it sounded like the American slang for prostitute. Come on! Give me a break! What child is going to make that connection!
Political Correctness in the extreme...
